THE EXPERIENCE

Pre-employment students join a mixed cohort alongside general Lethbridge Polytechnic students. Each program covers first-year apprenticeship material through intensive theory, hands-on labs and workplace experience.
19 polytechnic credits
Complete a coordinated set of trade-specific courses.
15 high school CTS credits
Make meaningful progress towards high school completion.
Graduates may be eligable to write the first-period apprenticeship exam.
Build specialized high school credit
FOUR PROGRAMS
Choose the trade you want to pursue.
All four programs are offered in fall and winter, require daily attendance and include program-specific equipment and materials.
Pre-Employment Carpentry
Safety, building materials, tools, site preparation, estimating, drawing and practicum experience.
English 10-2 + Math 10-3
Pre-Employment Electrical
Workplace safety, circuit fundamentals, lab skills, electrical code, drawings and practicum experience.
English 20-2 + Math 20-3 + Science 10
Pre-Employment Pipe Trades
Safety, rigging, tools, fabrication, drawings, specifications, trade calculations and practicum experience.
English 20-2 + Math 20-3 + Science 10
Pre-Employment Carpentry
Safety, tools, metal properties, welding processes, trade mathematics and practicum experience.
English 10-2 + Math 10-3
HOW THE SEMESTER WORKS
Full-time attendance is essential.
Students follow a program-specific daily schedule. Consistent failure to attend can result in removal from the program.

Seats are limited and tuition is sponsored by participating school divisions. Students need division approval applying to Lethbridge Polytechnic.
